LECTURE SERIES ON PREDICTION OF WEATHER

The department of Physics organized lecture series on “Prediction of Weather” with the scientific assistants of Indian Meteorology Department, Kakinada as resource persons on 7.07.2022 in LCD 1. Respected Principal, Dr. B.V.Tirupanyam, the president of the event addressed the students about the advantages and benefits of the mankind by predicting the weather. He also explained how the reports from the Department of Indian Meteorology are useful by taking precautions and safety measures by the governments to avoid the losses from natural calamities and disasters.

In the lecture series, the scientific assistant, IMD, Sri T. Manikyala Rao garu in his PPT explained the functions of IMD and types of clouds which are responsible for normal rains and cyclones. He also demonstrated the formation of cumulus nimbus clouds which are very dangerous leads to give orange alert and red alert. He extended his lecture about the role of IMD in giving the information of arrival of monsoons and the key role in aviation sector at airports across the country. Another resource person Sri R. Ashok garu, scientific assistant delivered his lecture in detail regarding the flash flood guidance system with global coverage, SAsCa FFGS, the software used by IMD . Also he explained the visible and infrared technology used by ISAT 3D. Another resource person Sri D. Rambabu garu, in-charge, IMD Kakinada in his talk explained the various instruments and their operation installed at the IMD center Kakinada. faculty from department of Physics and students of UG and PG nearly 60 in no. Participated and got the valuable information regarding Meteorology.
