Webinar on Impact of Covid-19 on environment and Science and Technology - Day 2

The Department of Physics & Electronics conducted Webinar on “Impact of Covid-19 on environment and Science and Technology” on 26th & 27th May 2020.

Renowned academicians Dr. Alawi Sulaiman, and Dr. Venkata Ramana, Sri. N. Jayababu and Prof.K. Raghavendra Rao were been the Speakers for two days.

Our College Principal and President of this two day International webinar Dr. C. Krishna expressed a great pleasure in conducting such timely programs. He reiterated that the deliberations and discussions in this program should be utilized to the Society.

In Conveners message, Dr.Jyothi said that, on the other side of the coin,the pandemic situation significantly improves air quality in different cities across the world, reduces emission, lessens water pollution and noise, which may assist with the restoration of the ecological system.

Dr.Alawi Sulaiman in his speech, The global outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 is affecting every part of human lives. The measures taken to control the spread of the virus and the slowdown of economic activities have significant effects on the environment.

Dr. Venkata Ramana told that, The global disruption caused by the COVID-19 has brought about several effects on the environment.Excessive use of PPE their haphazard disposal, and generation of a huge amount of hospital waste has negative impacts on the environment.

On the Second day, Sri N Jayababu stated that due to the pandemic, quarantine policies established in many countries have led to an increase in the demand of online shopping for home delivery, which ultimately increase the amount of household wastes from shipped package materials 

And the last speaker Prof.K. Raghavendra Rao said that extensive use of disinfectants may kill non-targeted beneficial species, which may create ecological imbalance Moreover, SARS-CoV-2 virus was detected in the patient'sfaces and also from municipal wastewater in many countries.

On his closing remarks Dr. MVK Meher thanked everyone who participated in this program.

The program was closed with National anthem.
