A guest lecture was organized by Department of Physics and Electronics on 2.2.2018 at 4.Pm in LCD Hall -1.

Meteorologist, Sri.Trinadha Rao Pakki from MET center, Hyderabad gave a talk on “Indian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica”. The speaker who spent 1 ½ year  at Antarctica during the winter expedition shared his experiences on the coldest, driest and windiest continent on the planet. He briefed on studies taken up to understand the origin, eco-history, climate changes, meteorology, mineralogy and molecular biodiversity of Antarctica carried out by multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional scientists.

He also gave an overview of Dakshin Gangotri,  the first Indian scientific research base station, Maitri, India’s second permanent research station and Bharti, India’s latest research station.

Sri Pakki interacted with students of Cluster-Physics and Cluster-Electronics, M.Sc Physics. He very patiently answered all the questions quizzed by students on issues relating to Psychological tests to be cleared, Physical fitness to be maintained, food habits to be followed etc. to be selected for the expedition. 

The authority with which Sri Pakki spoke on different observations made in the field of Meteorology, related to pressure, wind speed, temperature, glaciers, and the hardships faced during the stay was lauded by Vice-Principal Sri. Vara Prasada Rao garu who chaired the Session.
The members of the Department of Physics and Electronics and Students thanked Sri Trinadha Rao Pakki for his motivating and inspiring talk.
